Pilot Study: Air Quality Monitoring - CentrePort, Wellington
Search in document libraryAir quality monitoring during summer and autumn in 2019/2020 found that although measured levels of sulphur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and particulate matter were higher at the CentrePort monitoring site compared to Wellington central air monitoring station, levels were within national standards and guidelines. Domestic ferries appeared to be the main source of SO2 emissions, but these emissions are expected to reduce once MARPOL Annex VI regulations designed to minimise air pollution from ships come into force in New Zealand in 2022.
